Native American Sugarbushing

Beth Moody, Potawatomi and Shawnee, Cultural Consultant for the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan will discuss the Traditional Lifeways of the Great Lakes Native Americans. In her presentation she will highlight the importance of maple sugar and maple syrup and their medicinal properties. She will also discuss the processing, harvesting, and celebrating of late winter- early springs first food, maple sugar. The supplies, tools and processes used both currently and historically, will also be discussed.
